Safe Guide Released To Working On Mobile Cranes 27/11/2007 One of the most hazardous places of work is working at height. Certainly there is no shortage of crane accidents in industry news. The combination of height and the focus required for technical work on massive machinery can be a tough job. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has aimed to cut down work at height accidents as the primary cause of work place accidents. HSE has teamed up with the Construction Plant-hire Association and published a new Best Practice Guide on Working at Height on Mobile Cranes. One of the major stipulations of the guide is that only qualified and trained personnel should be working on rigging, operation, maintenance or examining mobile cranes. The primary responsibility for health and safety on site is of course overseen by the organization in control of the premises. On construction sites the principal contractor is also responsible for safety and to monitor and asses the safety of work being done as well as providing the proper resources for rescue situations for persons working on height. |
