Dump Trucks Get An Extra Lift With Hoist Cylinders 13/03/2001

Hard working mine and quarry dump trucks from the Terex TR series that carry payloads from 31.75 tonnes to 41 tonnes are getting some new hydraulic help. Specifically from Parker Hannifin hydraulic telescopic cylinders designed for the hoist mechanism on Terex range of dump trucks.

These trucks which mostly work on steep gradients and can go up to 60mph needs a tough and reliable hoist mechanism for the type of work these vehicles have to handle.
The advantage to telescopic cylinders over conventional rod-type cylinders is that they offer a longer reach on smaller framed trucks. This differs from the collapsed length of most telescopic cylinders may only be 20% of their extended length.

Single-acting telescopic cylinders also extend under hydraulic pressure but rely on gravity or some other mechanical force for retraction. The double-acting telescopic cylinders are powered in both directions and can be used in situations where gravity or external forces are not available.
