Komatsu Dozer Comes To Rescue 28/03/2008

In the rural town of La Crosse, Wisconsin a mid-size Komatsu D39PX-21 Crawler Dozer has helped the La Crosse County Highway Department and the surrounding towns keep up to date with all its road work projects. The Assistant Patrol Superintendent Tim Hammes, said that he would not have been available to maintain and care for over 1,000 miles of state and county road. The Komatsu dozer is used for a lot of ditch and bank sloping, ditching for drainage, ripping out and installing culverts and box culverts and so on. The D39 has played an very important part in the County Highway Departments work. The Komatsu dozer was bought when the county accepted bids from manufacturers and distributors and of course the price made a difference. Tim Hammes said Komatsu did very well with their bid and it made a difference in the choice.

The Komatsu dozer has proven to be the right machine for the needed work, with the correct weight and horsepower. Hammes has said that the operators appreciate the visibility of the machine and the maneuverability which handles itself well on the steep grades and slopes. The deparment had previously chose a Komatsu PC220LC-7 excavator but over time it seemed they needed the D39 would be a better addition. The dozer needs to operate on uneven surfaces such as roadside ditches which means a stable and smaller dozer was necessary.
