Caterpillar Expands D Series Excavators 08/03/2008
The Caterpillar excavator range has been expanded with the latest addition of the three D Series mini hydraulic excavators that will join the highly respected Caterpillar excavator family. The 308D CR is a compact radius mini excavator that works in tight spaces and keeps productivity high with its compact radius design swing boom. The Cat 308 CR SB replaces the Cat 308 CR with an extra compact swing boom for even more versatility. The Cat mini excavators in the D-Series feature many of the best aspects of the C-Series models and also include many improvements. The newest Caterpillar excavator features 22 percent higher bucket forces and 10 percent higher stick forces, with a lift capacity that is increased with the addition of a larger counterweight. Another 15 percent increase in traction forces also improve dozing and turning performance. The Cat excavators are powered by a new turbocharged Mitsubishi 4M40 TL engine, that has a rating of 54 net horsepower. This makes for an engine that is reliable, durable, fuel efficient and meets Interim Tier 4 emissions regulations.
The D-Series has the advantage over other machines in its versatile, compact movements that work on most any construction site where space is tight or the site is busy. They also include a new rubber undercarriage option, standard high-pressure auxiliary hydraulics and standard thumb-ready sticks. The D-Series range includes the Cat 307D, 308D CR and 308D CR SB that are designed to be of use for more jobs in more places. Easy access service points and increase maintenance intervals means the Caterpillar 308D CR SB machine keeps productivity high and maintenance costs low.
