Potain Cranes 20/03/2008 At Conexpo 2008 in Las Vegas, the construction industries biggest exhibition of construction equipment in the world, Manitowoc introduced the topless tower crane from Potain. Potain cranes have been a leader in crane innovation since 1928 and they did justice to their legacy with the MDT 268. The new model comes with improved reach and lots of features that make the erection and dismantle process much faster and easier. The Potain crane comes with a J10 version with an 11 USt maximum capacity and a J12 version with a maximum capacity of 13.2 USt. The new crane is ideally suited for city center construction with two versions for a variety of configurations which can be customized for a range of different projects. The latest model of Potain crane or the two latest versions of the MDT 268 come with a 213 ft jib with the J10 version which can pick 2.9 USt at the jib end and the J12 version is able to pick 2.8 USt. The crane also uses 6.5 ft x 6.5 ft mast sections which mean a maximum free standing height of 228.7 ft is possible when mounted on fixing angles or maximum height of 246 ft when mounted on a chassis. Manitowocs executive vice president Larry Weyers said, We are anticipating a high level of interest in our newest generation of Potain cranes at Conexpo 2008, The show gives us an opportunity to remind the industry of our commitment to product innovation and customer support, he said.
