A reservation has been made for the Sea Jack wind turbine jack-up barge from A2SEA by Thanet offshore wind limited (TOW), a windmill farm. It has been planned that the SEA Jack is to be used to install wind turbine foundations. It is thought that it will be carried on being utilized for putting up the turbines in the summer and autumn in 2009. The installment of the turbine foundation will start in autumn 2008.

The Sea Jack has been designed to be used in the wind market, which is steadily growing. The Sea Jack measures 90 meters in length, 33 meters beam and has a Manitowoc M1200 Ringer crane. The barge is a substantial size and is therefore a good platform that can be utilized for large scale wind projects, for example the Thanet project.

All consents that were needed for the project to go ahead were given to Thanet. This will be the first Rand 2 project for the offshore wind farm that is to be built in the UK. It has been prdicted that the power generated from the wind farm will start in 2009.

Kaj Lindvig, A2SEA CEO, added, ’This type of long term forward commitment from a developer is vital in allowing companies in the supply chain, such as A2SEA, to make strategic decisions about the future expansion of the business’
