Deere Unveils High Speed Dozer At Conexpo 2008 13/03/2008

Among many of the delights that emerged from the Conexpo in Las Vegas last month was the prototype high speed dozer launched by John Deere. Engineers from Deere said the ground bearing pressure is equivalent to a standard dozer although the machine has four rubber tracks and pivot steering giving it lower traction from the rubber tracks and the pushing power of the 16t machine is equal to a standard machine of half that weight. But the rubber tracks are meant to work particularly well on sandy roads and sites and it can be used on the road. It travels up to 29km/h compared to the normal travel speed of a dozer of 10km/h.

Deere engineers also talked about the separate hydraulic feeds that power the front and rear tracks, supplying both motors on the ‘axle’. This allows for different track speeds that are caused by the pivot steering. Deere said expect to see the dozer in production next year.
